Basic Jewellery Care

Preserve that brand-new sparkle and shine by taking good care of your jewellery. While every piece is made to be durable, varying levels of care are still required. Some jewellery pieces are especially vulnerable to household chemicals and high temperatures, so these are best avoided. Cleaning jewellery presents unique challenges. Follow the guidelines below to care for your jewellery properly.

Cleaning

We recommend you use lovefinejewelry Jewellery Cleaner, available for purchase in-store and online. You will also need a very soft toothbrush to apply the cleaner and gently scrub. After cleaning, rinse your jewellery thoroughly with lukewarm water and dry it with a soft cloth. Most jewellery items can be safely cleaned this way.

Storage

To keep your jewellery shiny and sparkling for as long as possible, store each piece separately. Gemstones are harder than precious metals, so storing items together may cause scratches. Use a soft cloth pouch or a proper jewellery box to prevent damage.

Wear

Although gemstones like rubies and sapphires rank just below diamonds on the hardness scale, this does not mean they are indestructible. While they resist scratching, harsh chemicals, abrasive surfaces, and strong impacts can still cause damage.

Your jewellery should be the last thing you put on when getting dressed and the first thing you remove at the end of the day. Handle it with care, and it can be enjoyed for generations.
