1. Cut

What It Means: The angles and proportions of a diamond.

Why It Matters: Determines how well the diamond reflects light, affecting its brilliance and sparkle.

Tip: Choose the best cut grade within your budget (Excellent or Ideal for maximum brilliance).

2. Color

What It Means: The presence (or absence) of color in a diamond, graded from D (colorless) to Z.

Why It Matters: Colorless diamonds are rarer and more valuable. Slightly tinted diamonds may be more affordable.

Tip: Opt for a near-colorless grade (G–J) for great value; most have minimal noticeable tint.

3. Clarity

What It Means: Measures internal and external imperfections, called inclusions and blemishes.

Why It Matters: Fewer inclusions result in greater transparency and value. Most inclusions are not visible to the naked eye.

Tip: Look for clarity grades VVS1, VVS2 (very high quality), VS1, VS2 (eye-clean), or SI1 (affordable and often eye-clean).

4. Carat Weight

What It Means: The size or weight of the diamond.

Why It Matters: Larger diamonds are rarer and more expensive. However, carat weight alone doesn’t determine beauty.
