IAPF efforts have helped bring about an 80% reduction in the level of poaching activity, but rangers must remain vigilant. Wildlife species such as elephants and rhinos continue to be targeted by illegal hunting. These animals have been hunted to the brink of extinction in many areas due to demand for their horns and tusks — used in luxury goods and false medicinal remedies.
